CANDIDA

Candida albicans, a yeast-like organism, is important in allergic conditions, yet often goes undiagnosed. It is best known as thrush in the mouth or the vagina.
However, C. albicans is responsible or involved in far more ailments than thrush. Candida is a single celled organism, but when conditions are favourable for it, it changes into a "pseudomycelial" form, strand like and branching. This enables it to penetrate the bowel wall and spread through the body.
Candida is found to be responsible in some cases of anxiety and depression, "spaced-out feelings", urinary problems and joint pain. These conditions respond to treatment as soon as the Candida had been eliminated. Candida is able to invade the whole body, having been found in the heart and the liver. Candida has been found in muscles that are so inflamed and tender to the touch that they cannot be massaged, and coughs that seem to be intractable.
C. albicans is now accepted medically to be responsible in cases of muscular fatigue, bowel problems, respiratory and sinus problems, poor short-term memory, "brain fag", some cases of eczema and psoriasis, in addition to bowel problems.
Candida thrives in individuals whose immune system is compromised by infection, allergy and antibiotic use; it benefits from high levels of refined sugar and salt in the gastro-intestinal tract and indeed, apart from the conditions mentioned above, a person can actually be allergic to the yeast itself. It has been estimated that most of the population carries antibodies to Candida.
